Rick Peterson (BBS, MDiv candidate) is the founder and president of The Center for Biblical Recovery. His personal story includes over 20 years of recovery from trauma, codependency and addiction. Early in recovery, while working the first three steps of a Twelve Step program, he came to a saving understanding of the gospel of justification by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. Although he had been a professing Christian for many years he suddenly realized he had never grasped the true nature of sin and his absolute inability to save himself from it. It was then that Rick placed his faith in the saving work of Jesus Christ alone.
Since his conversion, Rick has become a devoted and passionate student of how the truth of Scripture relates to the cure of souls, especially in relation to addiction. Rick is a gifted teacher, pastoral counselor and writer. Without hesitation, he confesses, “Jesus is the lover of my soul and the first love of my life.”
Rick and his wife, Elizabeth, live near Seattle, Washington. They have five grown children and eight grandchildren, with another on the way! Rick loves history, music, reading, writing, long walks and time spent with friends and family.
